10 of the most ridiculous products that people bought in 2017
1. High heels for babies.
People were happy to criticise parents who wanted to raise their children without imposing gender norms on them and mock trans/non binary people for the entirety of 2017. Yet very few people have a problem with the fact that there’s a company devoted entirely to making high heels for babies.

Does this baby look the slightest bit happy about wearing these highly impractical shoes?
2. These €650 Balenciaga runners.
This is what they look like when they’re brand new.
You probably have a similar pair out in your shed for when you’re doing a bit of painting.
3. Or this €1,800 Balenciaga bag that resembles the 70c one from IKEA.

IKEA commented that they’re ‘flattered’ by Balenciaga’s design, insisting that ‘Nothing beats the versatility of a great big blue bag’.
4. A €350 bread maker.

When bread is so inexpensive and easily attainable, there’s no justification whatsoever for a €350 bread maker.
5. Pre-peeled oranges.
There’s an argument here that these are a great invention for people who struggle to use their hands. That argument goes totally out the window when you remember that they have to open the finicky packaging in order to free the orange.

There are individuals walking among us who value their toothpicks so greatly that they’re willing to spend €140 on a toothpick holder, so they can have them on display at all times.
7. Prosecco flavoured nail polish.
Earlier this year, Groupon launched an edible Prosecco flavoured nail polish, that you can lick off of your nails, if you ever have the bizarre urge to do so.
8. A €607 bathroom bin.
Nothing nice has ever gone inside a bathroom bin. When you’re hanging out of your bed throwing up after a few too many pints getting sick into this, you probably won’t feel any better when you remember how much it cost.

9. Smart toasters.
If there’s one item in everybody’s kitchen that works perfectly and does not need to be dragged into the future, it’s the humble toaster. You put bread in. You press a button. You get the rest of your food ready, then you return to the toaster when the bread pops out.
Tech companies, who very often attempt to fix things that aren’t broken, decided to have a go at creating a smart toaster. Come back to us when you create an app that puts the bread in the toaster for us.
10. A bin bag that costs nearly €400.
There’s so much wrong with this.
